Peter Watts is a former marine biologist, flesh-eating-disease survivor and Undesirable Element (according to the US government) whose novels— despite an unhealthy focus on Space Vampires— have become required texts for university courses ranging from Philosophy to Neuropsychology. His work is available in 20 languages, has appeared in over two dozen best-of-year anthologies, and has been nominated for roughly 50 awards from a dozen countries. His (somewhat smaller) list of 17 actual wins includes the Hugo, the Shirley Jackson, and the Seiun. His latest efforts include The Freeze-Frame Revolution (June 2018 from Tachyon) and coauthorship of a black metal science opera about sending marbled lungfish to Mars, funded by the Norwegian government (the opera, not the lungfish).

He lives in Toronto with his wife (fantasy author Caitlin Sweet), four-and-a-half cats, a pugilistic rabbit, a Plecostomus the size of a school bus, and a gang of tough raccoons who shake him down for kibble on the porch every summer. He likes all of them significantly more than most people he’s met.

Jack Campbell (John G. Hemry) writes the New York Times best-selling Lost Fleet series, the Lost Stars series, and the “steampunk meets high fantasy” Pillars of Reality series. His most recent books are Vanguard (which comes out in May), the first book in The Genesis Fleet, and Daughter of Dragons, a follow on to Pillars of Reality. And starting in June, Titan will begin bringing out Lost Fleet comics.  John’s works have been published in twelve languages.

John is a retired US Navy officer, who served in a wide variety of jobs including surface warfare (the ship drivers of the Navy), amphibious warfare, anti-terrorism, and intelligence.  Being a sailor, he has been known to tell stories about Events Which Really Happened (but cannot be verified by any independent sources).  This experience has served him well in writing fiction. He lives in Maryland with his indomitable wife “S” and three great kids (the oldest two autistic).

Richard Johnson is an award-winning writer of science fiction having won the Gold Award at the Writers of the Future Competition in 2011 and the Jim Baen Memorial Writing Contest in 2012. He has previously appeared on Starship Sofa with his flash fiction A Friend in Need (and you’ve also accepted my Writers of the Future winging story although that hasn’t appeared yet).

His day job as a structural engineer has taken him all over the world from the UK and Dublin to Singapore and Hong Kong. He currently lives in Melbourne, Australia with his wife and two young sons.
